Budweiser draws in UK

The latest round in the Budweiser trademark name skirmish has been declared a draw after EU judges ruled that both Anheuser-Busch Inbev and Budejovicky Budvar may use the Budwieser name in the UK as “consumers are well aware of the difference” between the two companies’ beers.

Despite identical trade marks, “The beers of Anheuser-Busch and Budvar are clearly identifiable, since their tastes, prices and get-ups have always been different,” they said.

A-B InBev had originally sought to cancel Budvar’s UK registration of the mark in 2000.
