The 100,000 Hectolitre stand-alone brewery will have capacity to double in size and will be able to produce all types of beer including lagers, ales and stouts.

While the number of new jobs it will bring to Clonmel is unclear at this time, the development was described as “positive for employment” by C&C Group’s Corporate Affairs Director Paul Bartlett.

“It’s also positive for our commitment to the Irish drinks industry and for jobs in Clonmel,” he told Drinks Industry Ireland.
The brewery will have a malt beverage capability to produce flavoured alcoholic beverage products and allow the company produce craft-style beers for itself and others.

The development ties in with the C&C Group’s business strategy of developing multi-beverage capabilities.
The development of the company’s potential in the beer segment follows on from the recent acquisition of Gleesons which added soft drinks and wines to C&C’s portfolio thus producing a multi-beverage capability where formerly it had had an absolute focus on cider.
