Gardaí and customs officers from Dublin Port removed

257 drums of pure alcohol were removed by the Dublin Port Authority
that they believed was for the purpose of making counterfeit vodka, from an inner city location early last month.
The authorities said the alcohol could potentially have made up to 4,500 litres of fake vodka, and would have posed a serious health hazard if consumed. They estimated that the operation could have resulted in an ongoing loss of €600,000 per annum in revenue.
