Eurospar Hartstown, part of the Furey Smyth Eurospar Group, has been named as one of the top 30 finalists in the AIB Merchant Services Retail Excellence National Awards 2024.

The Furey Smyth Eurospar Group, a network of seven prominent nationwide supermarkets, have been part of the community in Hartstown for more than three decades and recently underwent a major revamp.

“This achievement is a true testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of every member of our team,” said Chris Furey, managing director, Furey Smyth Eurospar Group.

Furey notes that the team’s commitment to excellence and providing exceptional service to their customers is the cornerstone of their success.

“I’d also like to express my sincere gratitude to Retail Excellence Ireland and the judging panel for recognizing our efforts,” notes Furey.

Focus on sustainability

As part of Furey Smyth Group’s overall €2 million investment programme to improve the environmental sustainability of its supermarket stores across Ireland, Eurospar Hartstown’s sustainability credentials include energy-efficient lighting throughout the supermarket.

Additionally, an infrastructure optimisation initiative is aimed at identifying energy efficiency opportunities across all aspects of retailing.

This includes heating limiters, timed lighting, and regular technology maintenance.

Solar panel installations and an expansive refrigeration infrastructure are also in place to reduce energy consumption and its carbon footprint.

Looking ahead

“To be included in this list of very prestigious retail businesses in Ireland is a terrific reflection on their community credentials and their continuing commitment to maintaining the highest of standards,” said Peter Dwan, sales director, Eurospar.

The Store of the Year competition is the central part of the AIBMS Retail Excellence Awards, which were established in 1997 to promote best practice and encourage the highest standards in the Irish retail industry.

The winner will be announced on November 2 in the Galmont Hotel in Galway.
