Gala announces €30,000 primary school prize fund
9 March 2020
Irish convenience retail group, Gala Retail has announced the return of its Gala Gifts for Schools campaign, which will see six primary schools win €5,000 cash.
Now in its third year, Gala Gifts for Schools will take the form of a sticker competition. Consumers will receive one Gala ‘G’ sticker for every €10 spent in participating stores. A total of 200 stickers must be collected and added to a poster of Ireland which Gala will provide. The first 50 primary schools to submit their completed poster will receive a €100 Gala voucher.
The retail group teamed up with TV and radio presenter Lucy Kennedy to launch its 2020 initiative. Speaking at the launch, Kennedy said: “The Gala Gifts for Schools initiative has been hugely successful for the past couple of years, with Gala Retail having given a total of €50,000 of cash prizes to winning primary schools from across Ireland to date.
“This year, entering the competition is easier than ever and we’re hoping to receive hundreds of entries from Irish primary schools who would like a €5,000 cash prize from Gala to spend on their school.”
Since Gala Gifts for Schools was launched in 2018, Gary Desmond, CEO, Gala Retail, said it has “seen first-hand the huge difference that our cash gifts can make to primary schools in communities across Ireland and as a community-based convenience retail group, this really resonates with our retailers.
“This year, we want to give even more schools the chance to win with Gala Retail! With a total prize fund of €30,000, we’re giving six primary schools the chance to win a €5,000 cash prize. The competition is easy to enter and schools can enter as many times as they want, so we’re looking forward to seeing our shoppers support their local schools and inviting the whole community to get involved in collecting stickers and completing these posters to give local schools a chance to win.”
Gala Gifts for Schools is open until 31 May 2020. For more information, visit www.gala.ie/competitions.
