Multiples’ post-Christmas repricing sees alcohol up 3.5% in January
Following the multiples’ special Christmas offers, off-trade alcohol prices jumped back up 3.5 per cent in January compared to December.

Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices rose by 1.5 per cent in January compared to the previous month. While tobacco prices did not rise at all in January, the off-trade price of spirits rose 9.1 per cent while wine & cider rose 3.3 per cent and beer by 0.3 per cent.
In the year to January 31st 2011, however, the respective percentages showed off-trade prices dropping for alcohol (by 4.2 per cent) with spirits dropping 5.7 per cent, wine & cider 3.0 per cent and beer by 5.1 per cent.
Following a rise of 0.9 per cent in January on the December figure, alcohol prices as a whole dropped by 1.2 per cent in the 12 months to the end of January and by 0.5 per cent in the three month period.
Prices generally rose by 0.6 per cent in January compared to January 2010 and by 0.2 per cent compared to December 2010.
