Some 124 licensed venues have been visited by Private Security Authority enforcement teams over the Summer months in Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, Meath, Waterford, Westmeath and Wicklow.

In liaison with local Gardai PSA inspectors visited licensed premises in connection with some of the Summer’s major events including the Galway Races, Puck Fair and the Rose of Tralee Festival. A strong focus was placed on ensuring that security staff were licensed and wearing ID badges.

Among door supervisors, licensing compliance rates were 86 per cent, up from 57 per cent last Summer, with 67 per cent displaying their ID badge.

Between the door supervisor and security guard sectors, 40 warning letters, 15 caution notices and four advice notices were served on individuals.

Further inspections are planned including return visits to some locations where breaches were previously discovered, the PSA recently stated.
