Subway begins local phased reopening roll-out
12 May 2020
Today, Subway begins a phased reopening of selected, locally owned and operated Subway stores, across the UK and Ireland. Approximately 25% of Subway’s stores will start to reopen from the 12 May with new operational and social distancing safety measures implemented to ensure the continued protection of guests, third party delivery and supplier drivers, “sandwich artists” and the wider communities in which they serve.
The measures include new fixtures, new directional signage to support social distancing, enhanced hygiene practices and the supply of PPE to protect colleagues, guests and delivery drivers.
The brand says these procedures will ensure its franchise owners are able to operate and trade responsibly and have been tested in a small number of stores that have remained open to support and serve key workers and hospital staff.
“Everybody in our Subway family and the wider communities they serve, has shown great resilience in adapting to these challenging times that we currently find ourselves in,” said Colin Hughes, country director, Subway UK & Ireland.
“We have slowly and safely introduced a new store operating framework that will be rolling out across stores,” Hughes added. “The weeks and months ahead will continue to be challenging for everyone and Subway will play its part in supporting the new normal whatever that may look and feel like.”
As well as supporting local communities, Subway stores will continue to support HSE and key workers. All HSE workers will receive 25% off their orders which is in addition to Subway’s existing initiatives. Recently Subway franchise owners donated over quarter of a million Subs to local communities, key workers and those who really needed it.
Customers can check if there is a Subway store open in their area by visiting the store locator https://www.subway.com/en-IE/FindAStore. With free delivery offered on orders over €10 from Uber Eats and Deliveroo, guests can also check which stores are open for delivery by logging onto third party delivery service websites (Uber Eats, Just Eat or Deliveroo) and can use mobile order collection via the Subcard Loyalty App.
