Tesco Ireland has opened its 177th store at Newmarket Yards, Dublin 8.

The store will offer customers a modern retail experience and a wide selection of quality fresh local and Irish produce.

Local suppliers Manning’s Bakery and Granby Ltd, famous for its Irish meats, are just some of the great local producers who will be found on the shelves in Newmarket Yards.

The store has also been fitted with several energy-saving measures, including fridge doors, which will help reduce energy consumption.

“This store is part of our ongoing investment in stores in urban centres across Dublin and the rest of the country,’ said Geoff Byrne, chief operating officer, Tesco Ireland.

Byrne said they always receive ‘such a warm welcome’ from the communities in which they are based.

Serving communities

Tesco is a proud supporter of the communities it serves. To date, its Community Fund has helped support thousands of organisations across the country from GAA clubs to children’s charities.

In its first campaign, the Newmarket Yards store will support the locality with donations to a number of local causes including St Benedict’s Youth Club, Shannon’s Hopeline and Liberties Running Club.

Through the food surplus redistribution programme, FoodCloud partners and OLIO Food Waste Heroes will be on hand to ensure no good food goes to waste.

The Newmarket Yards team will also join Tesco’s continued efforts to support its charity partner, Children’s Health Foundation which supports all sick children in CHI at Crumlin, Connolly, Temple St, and Tallaght hospitals.

New store

The new store was officially opened by the store manager who will lead a team of 13 colleagues.

“This is a big moment for all the team, we are looking forward to welcoming our new customers, and we cannot wait to actively engage with the community,” said Kyle Counihan, store manager, Newmarket Yards.

Yards is pleased to be able to support local groups and projects within the coming months, through the Community Fund.
