A Wexford team of four was crowned Davy’s Fittest Superstars.

Sponsored by Londis, and led by legendary hurler and coach, and Ireland’s Fittest Family co-creator and coach, Davy Fitzgerald the event took place earlier this month at Eco Park, Co. Meath.

The one-day sporting extravaganza saw 15 teams from all over Ireland compete on a 1.5km course featuring 14 of the most challenging obstacles from Ireland’s Fittest Family to help separate the fittest from the also-rans, including the unforgiving ‘Hanging Tough’ event.

‘Overwhelming success’

According to the retailer, the event was an overwhelming success and was also a charity fundraiser for Londis’ official Charity partner, Irish Hospice Foundation, with €7, 983 in total raised.

Commenting, Conor Hayes, sales director, Londis, said, “Combining our charity work with the ‘Davy’s Fittest Superstars’ concept is an innovative and exciting initiative and as well as being a fabulously enjoyable day we were able to raise funds for Londis’ official charity partner.

“We hope that our support for Irish Hospice Foundation will continue to help improve the lives of everyone availing of their services.”

The winning team received a prize fund of €4,000 for their efforts with an additional €1,000 presented to the charity.

Londis retailers select a new charity partner every two years and will be supporting the Irish Hospice Foundation through to 2025. To kick off the charity partnership, Londis retailers made an initial donation of €10,000.
