22 June 2018
Former chef to The Rolling Stones, Chris Telford, has flipped his patties to victory. Kepak, the sponsor of National Burger Day, announced that out of 500 burger outlets to choose from, almost 17,000 burger enthusiasts voted and chose Kilkenny’s gourmet burger restaurant, The Hungry Moose, as the best burger in Ireland. The announcement came ahead of Ireland’s first ever National Burger Day on 21st June.
The Hungry Moose gourmet burger house is located in the heart of Kilkenny city and is co-owned by Chris Telford and fellow cook, Andy Brown. Chris has been tossing patties for years, previously worked as a chef to the stars, and has served the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Jay-Z and George Michael, to name but a few. Opening just nine months ago, The Hungry Moose has triumphed on a local and national level, having firmly positioned itself as a market leader within the industry.
To help celebrate the humble burger, Kepak hosted Ireland’s first ever National Burger Day across the country on 21st June. Burger lovers treated themselves and a friend to a signature burger with an exclusive ‘Buy One Get One Free’ offer at participating burger outlets nationwide.
People did not need to stray too far from their home to get a taste of a winning burger, with regional winners announced across the following three categories:
- Independent Takeaway
- Independent Chain
- Gourmet Burger Specialist
The event, sponsored by Kepak, and supported by Coca Cola, Heinz, and Dubliner Cheese and Tour America is a nationwide celebration for everything that we love about Irish burgers.
